Twitter problems are everywhere. I'm not talking about people who are addicted to Twitter or even the people who just can't figure it out. I'm talking about your everyday, business and hard core Twitter users. If you search for twitter problems on search dot twitter dot com, you'll find an endless stream. So let's discuss the most common.
The most common problem is not being able to log-in. There is a password retrieval process at the log-in on twitter.com, but for the most part you have to go directly through Twitter's help desk to get that resolved. For most people and businesses, not being able to log-in could be a major issue. But did you know there's a way to keep tweeting even when you can't login?
Another issue people have is with the profile photo. For a long time there was some sort of glitch causing profile photos to disappear. But for most people it's just not loading up the right size photo. If your profile photo disappears, make sure to visit Twitter's zendesk and put a trouble-ticket in. Otherwise, try another photo and a different size. Twitter' status page will tell you if the problem is system-wide.
You'll also find people who can't seem to find tweets when they are mentioned. This has been a problem from Day 1. You can always search for yourself in the search box, you can set-up an RSS feed of your name or even a Yahoo!Pipe. The best way is to check your mentions and search for yourself.
Our 4th problem is one that people seem to get worked up about the most. Lost followers. It just so happens that people unfollow everyday. There are many accounts that are automated to unfollow people who don't follow back. And others just unfollow randomly. If you are really missing followers and there's an actual technical glitch - then you'll need to contact Twitter.
Another problem that will occur whether you like it or not is spammers. At some point spam will spew forth from your account. If your account is tied to your Facebook page, blog and LinkedIn - and if you have Twitter widgets everywhere, this is a potentially damning situation. The first thing you want to do is to change your password, but don't change it to match the password of your e-mail account. The second is eleminate the connections in your settings.
